FORTH WANDERERS NOT FOR ME

New Jersey's Forth Wanderers were the words on everyone's lips at SXSW last year and whilst musically, they've been quiet since 2016's Slop EP, the rising quintet have just announced their self-titled Sub Pop debut, which will arrive this April. The first taster of the album, 'Not For Me' couldn't have come at a better time, oozing with romantic ambivalence as singer Ava Trilling swoons "I can't feel the earth beneath my feet, flowers bloom but not for me." Despite its pleasing vocal melodies and laid-back indie guitar lines, 'Not For Me' has got teeth. Drummer Zach Lorelli's thundering beats transform what could have been a great but admittedly pleasant and jangly indie number into a heavy anti-Valentine's anthem that might even mend a broken heart. -HLMX
